I think everyone expected Le Pen's win in France.

Am I the only one who's cautiously but pleasantly surprised about the Left's performance? They seem to have done better than expectations, and are not far off from the far right.

Or maybe I'm just coping 😅

the dark colour you see is the extreme right / Front National so basically they won everywhere except Paris and some major cities

i hear you, but this is stronger than typical and happening all over europe inc. UK 

right wing in the uk is not really collapsing, it's fragmenting into 2 factions which will likely come back stronger and closer to extreme right next time round

interesting that people on fc seem to be quite blasé about this, IRL vibe is much stronger

I think the difference here is that typically center right wins in rural while today far right won in rural

I believe the right wing will win not just in rural but in urban city… the right wing movement has been growing steadily for the last 5 years. Sweden, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium just some example. 

The case of France is worrying and the ramifications will be much bigger.
