I am super bearish debit cards spent from your crypto balance. It doesn't solve a real problem in a 10x way. Why am I wrong?

This is why I'm wrong: https://lemon.me/en/lemon-card Save in USDT in a high inflation country. Earn yield on the USDT. Spend from that USDT. Doesn't make sense in the US.

We're using it to pay for Vercel on BasePaint! Easiest way for crypto native projects to pay for Web2 costs.

I can’t imagine having to account for capital gains and losses from every single purchase But countries with a friendlier tax structure could have it make sense

only thing I liked it for was for `certain sites` and having it come out my USDC than my bank account. Other than that, I’m with you and you’re not wrong.

It allows rapid experimentation with security and customization like per vendor or account spending limits, 2FA, high yield bearing accounts, multi account routing, and automatic currency conversion.

Depends on your time horizon. There’s about ~1.4 billion unbanked people globally. The debit card offers an interface with the rest of society, today. I was perfectly banked but wanted to live onchain. I’ve been using Coinbase’s debit card as my primary card since 2021 and was able to ditch my trad bank bc of it. I can’t say enough great things about it. But when I first signed up I would’ve thought SURELY by 2024 we’d have better USDC adoption. I didn’t think I’d still need the card today, yet I do. And I love the rewards. And as more cards become available to me I’ll sign up for them too. 50 years from now I don’t think they’ll exist. 10 years? Absolutely.

If I understand, you mean using our debit cards to spend from our crypto balance? I see where you’re coming from tbh, but it's a start I believe but they offer a practical bridge for those who want crypto hand in hand with their everyday transactions without needing to cash out first. Accessibility is key, right?
