this is a good idea and should be built. there's no reason why drivers and riders shouldn't own the network they use to transport. and the technology is good enough to make it possible.

the whole ‘migration’ to mastodon time made me think about federated rider-share systems eg cities could adopt the protocol as an alternative option. would probably be a shit show but interesting civil tech concept

In exchange for taking some earnings I would imagine uber protects you from the myriad of laws that try to prevent independents from driving. They had the money to fight all the government nonsense city by city whereas a decentralized app would need to be more creative. Unless their token moons 2 pay the lawyers lol
