God Bless Amjad. Masterful book talk and bait all in one. I have too much bias to hazard a guess as to the actual truthfulness of this https://x.com/amasad/status/1905103640089825788

imo learning to code is still a useful way to “learn how to think, learn how to break down problems, learn how to communicate clearly” (his tips)

in my couple months learning it feels like the most important thing for the future has been learning to read code

if you steelman this, realize the best products don't win. the person to best communicate the product wins. I'm sure you've been in a situation you can explain concepts to a novice better than experts can. If you can do that with AI, it can generate the step functions well and companies are really just an amalgamation of a million decisions. maybe today they aren't good enough but its getting better there -- fast. arguably non-devs can vibe code better than I because they've gotten better at prompting. most of programming was always about logic -- breaking down problems but then doing symbol manipulation, i.e. code, to make computers do what we want. AI is getting good enough at symbol manipulation so even if it gets it wrong at first prompt, you can re prompt it. writing is similar. by the time you write your thoughts down on paper, it's likely unclear and confusing and you're going to have to re-write it until its clear for the reader. this piece took me 10 mins. and I'm sure it can be condensed.
