In some way, I find Facebook more understandable because Mark made a product for kids his own age to start. While there are valid brain rot criticisms (now more than ever) it didn’t start as “old man purposely targets teens”

You’re describing the Facebook model as well, it just applied to the entire population of teens/adults without fully formed or functioning prefrontal cortex’s (assisted by the pandemic of junk food and ADD/ADHD)

To me, I think the primary difference isn’t in the apps but in the posture of the founder. He self-styles as some turbo genius, has all these guys simp for him, foists his terrible opinions on us, and for some reason we take it srs. I can’t attack the founder of Candy Crush because I don’t even know who he/she is

These criticisms seem like they would be valid for like, any mobile game like candy crush or subway surfer or something. i see nikita's apps as social games for teens. i'm not sure that any app that captures youth attention is inherently predatory, and i don't see the diff between tbh/gas and like subway surfer

It is pointless. It’s ingenuine engagement farming by kids predicated on FOMO and a desire to belong and have the app everyone else does, not unearthing some hidden reservoir of kindness in kids.

Know nothing about him or his apps but do I read this correctly that he twice sold basically the same app for hundreds of millions that then was discontinued about a year later because nobody was interested anymore? He's certainly not bringing lasting value to the world.

I don’t really mind. He didn’t force anyone to use these apps. What bothers me the most is that he is a know it all.
