Everyone’s like, “I am uniquely prepared to understand this moment in time because I read history” and I thought to myself yes. I am picking up what it being put down. So I got a book about the 14th century— “a violent, tormented, bewildered, suffering and disintegrating age, a time, as many thought, of Satan triumphant” A DISTANT MIRROR by Barbara Tuchman

Really an interesting choice! A Distant Mirror does a great job of showing how history can be a mirror for understanding the present. The 14th century, with all its chaos and crises, seems to have a lot to say to us today.
