I’ve said this before but what I wouldn’t give for a self contained highly produced podcast series like Serial again Not an audiobook Not guys talking Not guys interviewing Just 6-10 eps with production value diving deep into a story or concept

There are so many good stories out there and I am listening to a sycophant interview David Sacks. No wonder I have lost the will to live

"The Coldest Case in Laramie" is pretty good, so is "S-Town". Both also by Serial productions, but they're self-contained, if you haven't checked them out!

i wouldn’t care as much about guys interviewing and talking if they can put out a production anywhere near as good as S-Town. i’ve listened to that cover-to-cover at least ten times. favorite podcast series by miles and miles🥹

I was thinking about this recently, I feel like most of these have shifted to video essays generally, I don't think the audience for podcasts is big enough usually

It’s the same story with novels. Non-fiction has become so dominant that it’s hard to find great soul shaking novels that have powerful language. The Man Booker winners are less and less impressive every year tbh Storytelling as a whole seems to be a big victim of these latest trends.
