I think good taste is also acquired by building your own sense of aesthetics. What I mean by that is this idea that you need to have a build a highly sensitive radar for what you like and what you donโ€™t like. Something that is much easier to say than it is to do, yeah.

This is Rick Rubin's approach! He doesn't contribute anything to the music he produces but his sensitivity and discernment Has led to some incredible collaborative work

And the s tier is to build good taste for yourself while being appreciative of the different good tastes that others build for themselves.

i feel like when people say someone has "good taste", they tend to focus more on something spoken highly based on societal norm, as supposed to individuality and uniqueness. what are your thoughts ๐Ÿ‘€

Reminds me of taste palette; after making HUGE upgrades to my /coffee game and /food game, it's difficult to go backwards. And the more diversity I get exposed to, the greater likelihood it's harder to be satisfied. But I'm trying to accept, it's actually better to be left wanting more. Satisfaction is over-rated.

I inherited that from my dad. When we go shopping or similar we instantly know and trust our gut feeling of "hot or not" and can scan a store in literal minutes and move on that translates to other areas but shopping is an obvious example I couldn't really put that instinct into words though

Absolutely love this point of view. Taste is as much about what you don't like as what you do.

I came across a great quote, something to the extent of: Intelligence is knowing what to say, wisdom is knowing whether to say it.
