So heartbreaking. Rest in peace, Hossam. ๐Ÿ’” Can we talk about the fact that the state of Israel has officially killed more than 170 journalists and media workers? This is absolutely unprecedented. The level of impunity is staggering and itโ€™s only possible because the U.S. government is funding these atrocities, and major media outlets are complicit by purposefully spinning information to justify these targeted killings or by ignoring them altogether (as they are doing today. just search the news and see who actually published anything). We need to keep speaking up!

An important article in The New York Times today on how Ukrainian families with children suffering from long-term illnesses are overcoming challenges during the war. Please read if you have time โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน๐Ÿซ‚ https://www.nytimes.com/card/2025/03/24/world/europe/ukraine-children-illness

In the occupied territories, russians destroy all Ukrainian books, and teenagers are forming secret book clubs to read Ukrainian literature, risking their own physical safety and freedom by doing so. I know armed resistance is talked about more often, but this kind of cultural resistance under occupation - writing, reading and speaking the language when itโ€™s forbidden, acquiring books, creating art with national symbols - is what keeps a lot of people going ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿซ‚โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

Goldโ€™s Gym is always such a vibe. Every time I feel lazy and donโ€™t feel like working out (like today lol), I just make sure to drag myself here, and then I instantly get motivated just by watching people haha

Today is Alinaโ€™s birthday. She is one of the incredible frontline medics Iโ€™m supporting, and you all have helped provide many medical supplies for her (our most recent medical delivery was for her and her team as well) โ›‘๏ธ๐Ÿซ‚ She is not only saving lives on the frontlines in the Kherson region and treating wounded soldiers but also caring for civilians in nearby villages, as there are no functioning hospitals and itโ€™s unsafe for them to travel to the city due to russian drone attacks. Proud to know her and to help as much as I can through @crystalhearts.

Today is 15 years since I moved to the U.S. Well, technically, I didnโ€™t know that I was โ€œmovingโ€ here when I came for an internship at a PR agency in West LA a year after I graduated from university. I thought this was gonna be a six-month internship. I, of course, knew there was a possibility the internship would extend or turn into a job (which it didnโ€™t โ€“ that internship was hell on earth, like in the worst movies with the boss being a cruel psycho lmao). But I still ended up staying and living in LA ever since:) Not sure if I see myself living in the U.S. indefinitely, but for now, Venice Beach is the place that makes me feel at home, and Iโ€™m really grateful for it. But maybe one day, somewhere else will feel more like home, and Iโ€™ll end up there - who knows)

Iโ€™ve shared about this before, how in the Kherson region, russians created what they call a โ€œhuman safari,โ€ where they hunt civilians with drones and drop explosives on them. Not just the military or aid workers, as usual, but regular civilians just trying to walk on the streets. Well, now theyโ€™re hunting kids too. You can watch this childโ€™s story in the thread, luckily, they were only wounded by shrapnel and managed to escape. I know people like to shift all the blame onto Putin because itโ€™s easier to believe that there is just one evil dictator who is simply forcing people to commit these horrible atrocities. And itโ€™s harder to accept the reality that itโ€™s regular people making decisions every single day about which sick war crime to commit. https://x.com/ukrinform_news/status/1901705014877307091?s=46&t=gtx44dUnrNN1GtVo0pzCVg
