im cutting out coffee to see what happens. background - ~10y of 2 espresso a day (300mg caffeine). - i sleep fine, avg 7.5h a day - i love coffee & look forward to it. but... - i do get headaches - i often feel lethargic - hunch it prevents deep work, just accelerates rapid ctx switching. updating this thread daily

I did this for 2 months, cold turkey. My experience: - first two weeks were hell (bad withdrawal symptoms, loss of focus, sleep) - brain fog mostly recovered by week 3 - productivity back to baseline month 2 - deep realisation that you're disconnected from society that runs on a coffee schedule by end of month 2

They say it can be vitamin B12 deficiency. Also vitamin C, D & Magnesium Coffee dehydrates and it can lead to headaches. Trying the same. Have quit beer and now coffee. Lets see what it brings. (Also trying to get back rowing)

Attempted this. Reduced intake to 1 per day and substitute the rest with tea. Gave up after a month cause I didn't see any real difference. Maybe should have done a little longer to experiement more 🤷

I've had one cup every morning for ~8 years and then fully stopped to 0 caffeine for 3-4 months just to experiment. can't say I noticed a whole lot either way only thing that matters in my case is not having caffeine later in the day to fall asleep easier

I've been drinking coffee most every day since 14, and also cut out a few weeks ago. Planning to be off until the end of year to see what impact it has on my mind and rhythm. Also want to experiment with some lucid dreaming practices and thought the ability to go between waking/sleeping more easefully could be helpful.

Did this for a while, ended up relapsing and now at a 1-2 cup a day My favorite benefit was the muscular relaxation. Caffeine makes you physically tense, and because we're all so habitually caffeinated, we take that level of tension as baseline It's much easier to relax once the adenosine pathways go back to normal

I take regular caffeine breaks, you might want to taper down to 1/day or tea only for a week or 2, makes the first week much easier than going cold turkey for me

Godspeed, brother I’ve stopped for a few weeks before, but the only thing I noticed was I missed the enjoyment of drinking coffee. Promptly resumed lol Definitely a worthwhile experiment to explore the personal effects as well as a good self discipline exercise
