There’s a new VR trend called “fan games”. Some VR games like Gorilla Tag have open-sourced their games so players can remix them. This is so popular that 90% of uploads to SideQuest are Gorilla Tag fan games made by teens. Some fan games make millions. I believe fan games are the future of VR gaming

There are currently problems with VR fan games: 1) Hard to publish 2) Using free multiplayer tools limits scale 3) no shared backend allowing for monetization/scale Throwback Studios is building a solution for these problems. More to come.

The Roblox generation loves doing this. Remixing is something that we'll see in more places beyond games.

Rec Room custom rooms and games have come a long way. Hadn’t tried it in a few years and was impressed to see what people have built with their tools.

I believe many people call it UGC games, but still it’s super cool! One downside of current UGC is that it’s owned by the platform and so the platform benefits the most. It will be really cool when we start adding in NFT IP rights to UGC devs. But yeah I love the energy! UEFN is doing some really cool stuff too

I always wished halo would let custom map makers charge for their maps. This sounds like that.
