here's an idea: 1. coin a piece of content 2. show an ad next to the content 3. use the revenue from the ad to buy and burn the coin that's a smart coin. self sustaining from revenue generated by attention.

I did something similar here https://warpcast.com/piartstudio/0xb41001fe where you mint a free open edition mint the goal was to do a challenge on an e-bike around the UK and I’d develop the channel with content NFTs so I put the two together thinking further down the line to add a CB Gallery $Don’t Bully is because I’ve had people bully my presence on social media that has stopped me from being a content creator I wanted to do something different to stop the bullying so I can grow and gain my independence

Very cool idea! If it's programmatic ads, this may be hard to prove out in the immediate term as you kind of need scale to drive meaningful revenue. While it takes a lot more effort, if the creator is working directly with a sponsor, that could work today. From a tax perspective, it may actually be better for the sponsor to buy the token directly (maybe w/ a requirement to burn it). Creator doesn't have to recognize any income, but the token they presumably hold for their work would increase in value. Just thinking out loud...

Interesting approach. When first got into web3 I saw it as a way that we could start to better monetise content from creators so they could avoid going down the route of ads. We should be looking at ways in which we can have a better form of paywall against the content consumption so that ads are no longer required. Coil was the closest thing I saw come to this (https://coil.com/) but it was running in the 2018 and it still hasn’t “arrived”, although we do now have https://webmonetization.org/ In your example I’d love to see the ad as an option IF you’re not already subscribed to streaming some form of token to the creator while you’re consuming the content.
