You don’t need permission to build AI. AI is for everyone, and now thanks to the Ai2, we have a fully open model efficient enough (4GB) to run on a mobile device and be useful even in airplane mode, or in a disaster that has taken down the Internet. OLMoE is fully open source, including the training data, the model weights, the inference code and the app code. The app - built with help our team at GenUI - can be used by anyone who wants to customize or build leading-edge AI into a mobile app. Download the app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ai2-olmoe/id6738533815 Developers, here's the Github repository as a jumping-off point to build your own: https://github.com/allenai/OLMoE.swift

Really, all of cypherpunk / free software / ... is just trying to preserve boundaries that were unquestioned in the year 1900. * Your device serves you, not some gov or corp overlord * You can repair and modify your device to better serve you * Your private conversations are private * Your private money is private

It flatly refuses to talk about Tiananmen Square 1989, however, so we must take everything it says and does with a grain of salt..

gm. my farcaster feed is beginning to resemble twitter, and not in a good way. squabbling, posturing, and misinformation abound, none of it funny, some of it dangerous. i won't help with that. so, instead of unfollowing anyone specifically, i've made the choice to reset my follows and exit most channels. I'll meander my way back to the channels I use and people I cherish over the coming days and weeks. Find me in the arena, as ever. See you soon 🎩🌹

It means you can acknowledge your mistakes, and in this case, a very big fuckup. If someone thought so highly of themselves, would they admit making a mistake at all?

The lenticular display on the exterior of the mask so a bystander can see the user's eyes (when not in fully immersive VR) is an amazing idea, and one I could not have predicted. Hopefully well-done and won't look hokey, but could go a long way toward making the device more reasonable to use.
