We should call them digital dollars, not stablecoins. “Stablecoin” is a term only crypto insiders use. To everyone else, it’s confusing at best and alarming at worst. But “digital dollars”? That’s intuitive. It captures the essence of what people actually experience - dollars that move faster, settle instantly, and work globally, 24/7. Let’s reframe the conversation. If we want broader adoption and regulatory clarity, language matters. Digital dollars are here. Let’s start calling them what they are. And yes, this logic extends to digital euros, digital pesos, and beyond.

The existence of stable coins implies the existence of unstable coin. I like to think I'm holding unstable coins 🤣 (joke aside, agreed with you)

Maybe linkedcoin is better than stablecoin. I totally agree that wording is important. I think crypto, is over used, and in a way or another has a bad reputation connected to it.

you, other than anyone else, know that a stablecoin doesn't need to refer to any USD nomenclature. it's just stable, managed float at worst.

You make a good point, but we also need to distinguish it from "TradFi" digital dollars, like the ones in the bank accounts, apps etc'.

Totally agree with you. Not sure digital dollars is it, though. Tbh, mostly just due to syllable length. 3 syllables vs. 5 syllables is much harder from a consumer adoption perspective. But stablecoin is too technical. Digicoin? 😆

digital cash maybe? venmo could make the claim that their stuff is digital dollars too but it is all bank deposits underneath - not tokens / bills etc.

Digital dollars won’t work because stablecoins are not meant for only USD.
