I was there. I remember having a phone call with @etheraider (who I’d never spoken to before) to try and help navigate the chaos of the roughly 48-hours where the @evmavericks were _very_ controversial in the /ethfinance Reddit community. Everything started off great. The drama kicked off shortly after the first few 0.1ETH sales of the NFTs happened. Go figure. 😂 Went from “cool community initiative” to “dangerous attack on our community” very fast. All’s well that ends well. 🦁 💙 stronger together.

My least favorite part of the ETFs is the lack of transparency. When are the sells actually happening? What about the buys? Have we not seen the effects of the 100m+ net positive inflows? Is this market overreaction? Leverage flush? On-chain is so much better for analysis.

Crypto is a lot like religious media (think Christian music or made-for-tv movies). Both have what I would describe as captive audiences. Because of this the bar for each is set — generously — at “mediocre”. “It’s good enough, it’s the best in _our_ space” “It’s like ___, but for crypto people” “If your kid likes ____ then try ____. it’s crypto!” Because crypto people want crypto apps there’s this prevailing attitude that good enough is good enough. And crypto people put up with it because we’re desperate for something… anything! We need to raise the bar. Just like religious media — which purportedly should be inspired by a higher power — should be the absolutely most inspired sense of creative expression, crypto apps need to be built to not just be “good enough” but to put their off-chain relatives to shame in terms of overall design and UX. Everything short of that is a cash grab and overall disservice to those of us looking for a better alternative.

Someone needs to bring an app / marketplace like NeoPets on-chain. And I don’t mean “quick let’s make a pet fighting / trading game”. I mean one that’s actually well considered. Like, something you’d see in a non-crypto sphere. So many quick hacky products out there and still none can stand up to a virtual-pet website built in the early 2000s
