Starting to worry Elon might destroy Twitter. Very bullish for Farcaster, Mastodon and Lens if they can get their act together fast enough. Biggest thing holding Farcaster back right now is the onboarding bottleneck. Reply why you think @dwr.eth should or shouldn’t lower the drawbridge and start mass onboard ing users?

I suspect the revealed preference is the vast majority of people interested in “leaving Twitter” won’t. There are no shortcuts. :) farcaster://casts/0x...a3d29fe72c

Haven’t tried Lens - what are people’s experiences there vs FC?

I’ve looked at others. Mastodon: get banned for being a capitalist/not a communist Nostr: obsessed with bird app, has serious sync issues/no incentive to be a good relay operator Lens: where is the content or community? Gab: I’m not joining a Waco cult waiting to happen Twetch: Gab lite but everything costs a fee

aside from mastadon's horrible UX, every convo there is literally centered just around twitter, found nothing of quality so far in terms of discussions I wanted to escape the discourse ™️ about twitter, not just read it again in a way worse experience Signal to noise >> everything tbh

Farcaster is what Mastodon/Fediverse should have been (see farcaster://casts/0x556e48f284082a8dfff6e396f125860f23c5c8ea270a3581cbe43da117791b1b/0x556e48f284082a8dfff6e396f125860f23c5c8ea270a3581cbe43da117791b1b) It makes no sense that the user data is hosted on instances instead of a universal identity/wallet

Should not lower. I think the bottleneck creates a pressure of innovation that does the whole space a greater good. Flooding would likely create an average that we all may dislike, kinda like surges and homes. They’ll sort themselves out, in time, hold the gates! https://i.imgur.com/8NrtSfB.jpg

if mass onboard Twitter users we won’t get the current non-twitter users (as they will just see it as the new Twitter). Be nice to broaden the community by it being its own thing not Twitter v2.

I like the slow and steady word-of-mouth approach for what FC is now vs. mass onboarding. The culture developing here is different, and I think that space to grow into its own thing is valuable. Plus the protocol is in beta and needs tools in place to deal with spammers and malicious actors. No mute/block. 🫠

I like the curated and discerning feel of farcaster so far. Nostr is raw and intriguing. Mastodon is not worth the time.

This seems to be working. I think @dwr.eth should trust his instincts.

Seems going slow is why Farcaster is still great, at least for the concentrated archetype of people on it. Important to let a high functioning culture "bake in" here, establish some norms and standards, then grow from there. Meantime I'm worried about Twitter as well, not sure there will be another GP social platform.
