Planning on getting together with a few ex-Apple employees who are startup founders for drinks in SF at 6:30pm on Tuesday the 25th of March. If that sounds like you and you wanna join, let me know.

Friday Demo time: Just recorded how APX integrates with Sentry to solve a Django N+1 queries. For simple issues, we auto-generate PRs. For complex ones, we deliver enriched prompts with production telemetry for Cursor/Windsurf no more unmergeable AI PRs. What should we demo next?

AI won’t replace SaaS for the same reason Excel hasn’t replaced enterprise software, someone has to care about the details. Edge cases, security, compliance, access controls, and support at critical moments are why enterprise contracts get signed. AI can generate code, but it can’t own the problem.

Giving Agents and IDEs like Cursor the ability to see your figma files and use them as part of the context for prompts also seems like a promising use case for MCP. https://x.com/glipsman/status/1897185091685900596?s=46&t=Bc9m1uknKGxrhqisx2EO2g

This is starting to feel a bit more like a solid use case for MCP. Configuring and orchestrating production systems from within an IDE/Agent. I still have questions about how authentication and debugging permissions would work for this in practice. https://x.com/devneill/status/1897274528981770260?s=46&t=Bc9m1uknKGxrhqisx2EO2g

Would you pay for an MCP server that gave you access to your Datadog/Cloudwatch data, sentry data and Postgres telemetry within Cursor? https://x.com/pashmerepat/status/1896646892211294372?s=46&t=Bc9m1uknKGxrhqisx2EO2g

Steve Jobs built Apple by prioritizing simplicity and user experience over complexity for its own sake. In contrast, data providers like Datadog and Sentry profit by making customers store excessive, irrelevant data, drowning them in noise. A great AI product should be like Apple, focused on clear, actionable insights, not overwhelming users with raw information. That’s why I’m bearish on incumbents solving this and bullish on new companies that rethink the problem from first principles.

Holy fuck, I’ve had 3 North Korean/Chinese hackers apply for jobs with plausible resumes. It’s really obvious when they get on a call. Stay safe out there founders. @mikedemarais.eth now I know what you were talking about.

I'm very proud to share that my latest venture, StepChange.work, has announced $4M in seed funding from a stellar group of investors, including Kindred Ventures, The General Partnership, Ritual Capital and Liquid 2 Ventures. Niall O'Higgins and I were inspired to start StepChange after our experience working at Coinbase, where we watched observability costs across the industry skyrocket. We decided there had to be a better way and have been hard at work over the last year, leveraging our team’s collective experience to help engineering teams boost their performance without crushing costs or manual troubleshooting. Today, in addition to our seed funding, we’re also announcing APX: a turnkey SaaS product that leverages generative AI to automatically detect, diagnose, and fix performance issues. To learn more about APX and our funding, head on over to the StepChange blog via the link the in comments. Also, we are hiring, if you want to come build the future of performance engineering, DM me
