Great video about the differences between Windsurf and Cursor. I’ve become a big cursor fan so I was curious what all the hype around Windsurf was about and if I should try it. https://youtu.be/9jgR-Ih_wGs?si=e5c49BwsmuH-9LRR

Developer content marketing feels increasingly untrustworthy. I ignore most open source projects unless they come recommended by someone I trust, solve an immediate pain, or are undeniably popular. This didn’t feel like the case a few years ago.

An underrated challenge with log-analyzing agents is crafting them to communicate: 1) what’s important in the data, and 2) why it matters. Building AI still requires product sense—without it, you get long-winded replies worse than useless, like unclear engineers explaining their work.

One of the cool things about writing AI agents to detect and summarize issues with clients Sentry data is that Sentry is Open Source unlike say Datadog. So if the docs suck, you can just go look at the source code of the API endpoint, like so https://github.com/getsentry/sentry/blob/92e31b8da7b68953f35622e74844b02551686b8d/src/sentry/api/endpoints/internal/quotas.py#L13

I now use Cursor instead of VSCode for day-to-day dev work. The big unlock was understanding how to manage context in its chat. With so much lying in the AI dev tool space, I only try tools that solve clear pains and are used by people I respect. Cursor passed both tests.

Open-source tool leveraging tmux + an LLM to analyze your terminal. User in the screenshot below is asking questions about nginx logs. This seems pretty powerful and very relevant to what I'm working on hence I will be trying it out. https://x.com/ncooper57/status/1864751402536550703?s=46&t=Bc9m1uknKGxrhqisx2EO2g

People were giving google a hard time about Geminis APIs being annoying to setup relative to antropic/openai. Amazons Nova requires a 17 step process... https://ndurner.github.io/amazon-nova

Great point. This is why I think managers are often better at using LLMs than coders. They’re used to working with people who don’t do things exactly the way they want, but still get the job done within acceptable tolerances. Much like piloting an Eva, the skill of the operator is just as important as the machine.
