last cycle relied too heavily on existing category incumbents to adopt crypto and bring experiences to broader consumer. this doesn't work because it can and will never be their main business. we're now at a point where native crypto consumer applications have built a healthy base. i believe these companies will shepherd more authentic participants and experiences to consumers, driving the next leg.

A dreamy sunset at the Lakeland of Finland. After seeing the clouds reflect in the lake I asked my friend to stay still in the boat as he was fishing. I kept my camera in the same place and captured the stars from the exact perspective to create this dreamy feeling of sunset drifting into the night.

I hope NFTs are coming back — in 2020 I invested in some NFT project I still have. I don’t remember why I did this exactly but it was more of a “Number Go Up” thing. I welcome being convinced that NFTs Are Inevitable and other apocalyptic narratives about future riches.

1. We're moving away from initial follows to a purely algorithmic feed. 2. We set up the initial follow system last summer because the single biggest reason for churn was people didn't follow enough people and didn't have enough content (and we didn't have a good algo feed yet). 3. I told people to cast in channels. A lot of people resisted / told me it was dumb. Other users took the time to do that. 4. We mapped onboarding interests (Ethereum, startups, memes, etc.) to channels and the users who were consistently posting in channels last summer / early fall. 5. The list had 200+ people on it, but 100 users got a power law of the initial follows. We actually randomized the number of follows between 60-70. 6. The list was proof of work -- at the time we set it up -- for the users that were here early and consistently posting. 7. There were some early users who -- for whatever reason -- did not cast a lot last summer and didn't do it in channels -- they missed out on initial follows as a result.

Hubble 1.14 is out. It includes a bunch of fixes around follows (consistency issues and large compaction events breaking event streams). If you are using shuttle, make sure you’re on the latest version before upgrading hubs, there’s a breaking api change for events.

You can connect your Solana wallet to your Warpcast account and then in theory could use Solana in frames etc. Warpcast has not really made the jump to the Solana community but I hope they take to it soon.

Thanks! The challenge is very few people who already have audiences on Twitter want to switch (sunk cost). So you have to market to people not on Twitter...who would be good at Twitter. :)
