I hope NFTs are coming back — in 2020 I invested in some NFT project I still have. I don’t remember why I did this exactly but it was more of a “Number Go Up” thing. I welcome being convinced that NFTs Are Inevitable and other apocalyptic narratives about future riches.

I hope NFTs get way more boring and personal. Let me keep a receipt of every transaction, online and irl, privately as an NFT. Let me use them to give businesses feedback/reviews as a verified customer, accumulate them to receive loyalty discounts, or burn them as the ultimate “never going back” signal; privately share them with my data union to amplify my personal data income stream; attach a group selfie and a voice note to commemorate a moment in time with some friends in a way that feels more ‘polaroid’ than ‘insta story’. Fuck it, gimme an NFT photo both. It’s inevitable in the same way fiat money was; there’s currently no feasible alternative to a social technology like this. Value is in the eye of the network, and we’re only limited by our imagination. Ownership of most art will eventually be proven using NFTs, but NFTs-as-art will likely a passing fad. Doesn’t mean the number won’t go up tho 👀

That's why i got a gal so at least you know the funds go toward making an anime. Which then results in future richness and other people perceiving nfts as cool. And then we all benefit from number go up eventually. Just need a handful of projects to raise the tide.

NFTs are will be back but those in particular are very likely dead. The tech is going to be a part of many things going forward but gold rush days and those previous prices are likely behind us. IMO.

I'm building out a Farcaster RPG game at /sands-of-sumaii Next season, I'm hoping to add nft items that you can collect and use in the game... all on Farcaster! Would love to hear your thoughts if you're into that genre of game. It won't be focused on "number go up", but just the actual utility in-game. Overall, I think nfts are natural to gamers - collect, trade, and show off what you have. So I'm also excited for them :)

I doubt many of the NFTs with ponzi like properties will come back but NFTs are doing great in other areas. You probably aren't going to make money on them.
