Do people use Polymarket to hedge? e.g. long Trump memecoins and bet on Trump to lose at the same time?

not a bad idea considering the biden memecoins tanking after losing. Same thing probably would happen to Trump memecoins https://cointelegraph.com/news/biden-memecoins-tank-as-joe-bidens-drops-out-presidential-race

People can use Polymarket for hedging, but memecoins like Trump-themed ones are more speculative than hedging tools.

Anyone please explain what’s the point of “betting” if one hedges that? Doesn’t a “hedge” cancel out both gains and losses? Then don’t bet in the first place or just exit your bet. What am I missing?

The idea is to balance risks and potential profits. If Trump wins, memecoins are likely to increase in value, but the bet on his loss would fail. If Trump loses, the bet would pay off, potentially offsetting losses from falling memecoins.
