never realized how much I suck at running fast, can barely run faster than 5K pace (legs just can’t move faster/push harder) maybe should shift focus to getting faster instead of building more cardio/base

Now that I've looked at your 20k stats...what is your 5k pace?!

When you feel like walking, just slow your run pace so you're still running, but very slowly, enough to lower your heart rate. Staying in zone 2 will increase your endurance, let you run longer, and get faster in the long term. I also find the running with friends makes me faster because I think about the pain less, ha

Try running 220's (half a lap) with a 220 jog. Plenty of time to rest, and the short distance will let you go all out in speed without too much pain. Start with four reps.

Nice work getting after it though! Sparking those fast-twitch muscle fibers via short sprints will make all the difference over time. Wouldn’t hurt to include interval sprints with your distance runs. Cross-training jump rope is a fun way to keep those legs moving quick too. Keep on rockin’!
