We normally run away from or poke fun at legacy code and how awful it can be to work with, but I think there's a very real, valuable, and rare skill to taking a shitty legacy codebase and turning it into something great. That's at least what I tell myself

Everyone in crypto who justifies all the support this industry has given to purchasable politicians by claiming they’re all equally corrupt should watch this whole interview.

when i was training with the national team, we lived and died by this mantra: “if you’re early, you’re on time. if you’re on time, you’re late. if you’re late, you’re fucked.” the entire team would have to do sprints if anyone was late. insane for me to fathom that 10 minutes late could be a norm.

still can’t believe DOGE’s first two personnel cuts were: 1. the accomplished yet desperately lost tech founder who got hired instantly after a couple of calls but quit six weeks in to focus on his “insecurities” with a one-way ticket to Hawaii to study “physics” and blogged about it 2. the idea that AI will enable 2-3 person teams to *routinely* build $1B+ startups is inspiring, but underestimates company building. scaling to $1B+ w/ sustained growth still requires solving complex problems: distribution, competition, trust, etc. the small teams that do it will still be “unicorns”, not the norm.
