How did your life/career aspirations change during college (or age ~18-22 if you didn’t go to college)? For me it’s been consulting -> media (specifically podcasts/audio) -> something in finance -> writer -> media again -> and now I have no idea. And I’m only 20 so def feeling a bit lost.

I started to desire more impressive career paths (basically found out about them). Also generally just raised my ambition levels in a good way toward trying to do hard things (even if ultimately I left the career path I was on)

I'm 39 & feel the same way been a solopreneur for the last 10 years, had a couple different businesses that felt more like hustles when I was 25, I lost my dad & that had a big impact on living my life as fully as possible podcasting is the thing I wish I would'v started doing years ago, never too late to start!

I went from athlete -> artist -> entrepreneur -> techpreneur (18-25). I might try and play a season or two of pro soccer again but I’m pretty obsessed with startups and trying to build meaningful things. 22-24 were weird years, think less and go with whatever feels right, learn as much as you can along the way.

Knew the environment I always wanted to do work in since I was super young (startups/tech/etc.) Real pivotal moment was the pandemic giving me a reset on whether I should do what all my peers were doing that I honestly didn't care too much about (clubs, internships, etc) or double down on working on fun shit w friends

I was lost when I graduated high school. From 18-22, I fucked around. I failed out of university, re-enrolled in community college, had no idea what I was doing. But I tried things. My career aspirations really didn’t fully evolve until I was in my late 20s.

Aspirations over last few years went from media (travel photo/video) → freelance web dev (boring but figured it could pay the bills) → nothing (very burnt out) → make-it-up-as-i-go crypto dev. Unsolicited advice: don't force yourself into something new. When something piques your interest, don't be afraid to div

Advice from a 22 year old: Just do things when you have the inspiration. You’ll feel much more certain when you change your mind, and you’ll eliminate options much faster.

I think a worthwhile question around here is, what are your aspirations?

Follow what you love and prioritize building varied expertise. It feels like one off decisions dictate the rest of your life, but there’s a lot more time to recalibrate than you’d expect. Focus on learning and compounding knowledge/ experience. Bad experiences are underrated and can guide more than good experienc

mech eng > chemistry > swe > IT > whatever i'm doing now (crypto/finance? vc?) was very much all over the place throughout my college years, it was the pandemic that whipped me into shape to actually find what i wanted to do don't know that i'll find one thing I can focus on for decades though

I was 22 less than a year ago. I was at my high physical shape playing division 1 basketball. I got an injury that changed my life and now I'm grinding in web3; creating and unstoppable community and about to mint my first piece of art on SuperRare... I haven't been this happy in the last 4 years. 🫶

Keep exploring, playing, and following your curiosity! You can do it all (albeit not at the same time lol). What I do now in web3 didn’t exist when I was in college, and what I went to college for taught me a lot, but isn’t the space I work in anymore. A nonlinear trajectory is harder but definitely more fun
