for all my fellow serious, deep thinkers out there — how do you keep things light when it’s needed? asking for a friend

Seriousness is usually about feeling like there are problems we need to solve. What helps me be light is a feeling of “We’ll figure it all out.” Trusting your future self allows you to take everything lightly.

depends. are you talking about light in socializing with other people or light in a personal mindfulness way?

Apply the “sandwich technique” step 1) apply fake compliments step 2) insert criticisms and disagreements step 3) apply fake compliments step 4) abolish all that nonsense and find people who are humble enough to welcome disagreement. Note: sandwich technique only works when compliments are genuine imo

I like Eric’s take. De-centering self helps a lot.
