"Show more replies"-style conversations are now easier to build than ever before! Using the new 'fold' option in the conversation api, you can now specify 'above' or 'below'. Cast replies can remain unified as well by not using this new option. - API: https://docs.neynar.com/reference/cast-conversation - SDK: lookupCastConversation() https://github.com/neynarxyz/nodejs-sdk/blob/main/src/neynar-api/neynar-api-client.ts#L1333-L1429 Happy building! πŸͺ

I’ll bite: this is my 4th of these notifications β€” end to end, how do i accomplish this task in a way that?: - will take me 5 mins or less - gives me confidence in wallet choice (new vs existing, and subsequent steps) - convinces me why i should feel confident doing this assume: - i’ve been dabbling in crypto/web 3 for over 10 years - i’m Richard Thaler-style β€œlazy” - i’m capable of figuring this out on my own, but for some unknown reason am unmotivated to

By popular request, you can now fetch all channels a user is a member of! Data currently has about a ~1 hour lag Via API: https://docs.neynar.com/reference/user-channel-memberships Via SDK: fetchUserChannelMemberships() https://www.npmjs.com/package/@neynar/nodejs-sdk/v/1.60.0 Happy building πŸͺ

It's now possible to sort conversations by engagement! As an extra bonus, this new functionality makes it easier to render threads by the same author more easily. How?: There's a new "sort type" optional argument. If you set it to "algorithmic" you can get the new behavior. Under the hood, the algorithm does two main things: - Return replies by the original author first in the list - Then, sort replies from other authors by engagement Check out the docs here: https://docs.neynar.com/reference/cast-conversation Try it out! API: /v2/farcaster/cast/conversation?sort_type=algorithmic SDK: lookupCastConversation(/* args */, { sortType: 'algorithmic' }) Happy building πŸͺ

it’s occurred to me that there’s a huge difference between teaching and instructing, and i have a sense we’ve recently leaned too heavily on instruction in areas that deserve to be taught instead

imagine having a reading disability, so tiktok biases towards serving you text-heavy content? as an edge-case magnet, algo feeds have shown me implicit assumptions made by engineers. e.g. avg amount of time spent (in milliseconds!!) can indicate subconscious "revealed preference," but what about the false positives?!

this reply (and thread) has been incredibly thought provoking. it leaves open question in my mind: how exactly can we reintroduce critical thinking, embracing of people as they change opinions over time, and making art & are there emerging opportunities to take action and effect change?

I’ve been noticing that more people have become fearful of expressing themselves freely online, especially in the past 10 years or so. Have you noticed this too? Either way, why do you think this is?

Social capital runs on proof of work, proof of memory, proof of β€œcare”. Social networks that advertise convenience are at odds with this, and devalue the interactions. I believe this is why we’ve seen a fragmentation of networks and a migration to chat & private comms from public feeds (eg FB/IG) wdyt?
