gm frens! rain 2000 $degen Continuing on yesterday's chat re: allowances, OpenRank, and Staking Lot of great points made - but one thing I'd kindly ask others not to do; pls do not tag jacek or wake (note how I'm not @'ing them) just to.. uh, throw abuse at them. It's extremely uncool, and un-degen. And majorly un-frenlike. Experimentation towards the allowance mechanics - yes they can be frustrating (I had 5 degen allowance one szn), but this experimentation and play MUST happen. The alternative is stagnation/going to zero. If you were a big recipient of tips prior but insta-sold them/don't want to stake any, being honest - that's on you. You picked a cash payout over rolling into an allowance; nothing wrong with that at all, but hodl mechanics/rewards exist for a reason. Skin in the game trumps all. I want to see a system where new and influential users can still build up good allowances via OpenRank, but skin in the game should still be a massive factor imo. Incentive to hodl/stake is v important.

Are there a lot of former big allos who cashed out? I wasn’t even aware of that.. Like..What are they even bumping their gums about?? Has the loss of distro-ing someone else’s free money damaged their egos that badly?! Insane.. Crazy how money always finds a way to reveal the heart.. On we go..

The main problem with this season is the locking prevents experimentation with mechanics. All that money and the disparity between the whales and minnows is locked in now and not just for a 1 month season but 3 months. Any changes to make things more equitable will have to ignore the reality of how it's locked in now.

Well said brother! Glad I happened to read this today. As someone who is still building a decent openrank, for me what helped better is staking whatever I received as tip from the community and amazing supporters here. I staked whatever I claimed from tips and gave away 20k degen to two of newbies so they could be in the tipping game. There could be people who are extremely upset. But ultimately even a mom can’t make both her kids equally happy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Part of the game. Great thing is Jacek and team are listening to the community. If anything has to change, they would, eventually. :)

I fully agree with you. I’m honestly a bit surprised about the pushback on having some skin in the game. Most people can do it wait their earnings from last season so what is the problem? :/

Great take...I agree this experimentation is necessary. I do wonder if the locking mechanism may deter new users from diving deeper into Farcaster...If our rank (and reach) is heavily dependent on the amount of $degen locked, it creates a system that only rewards the wealthy. Not necessarily long term holders/supporters.

Personally I think tagging is fairly unless in really critical situations. On the Allo topic align on skin in game+ social reputation balancing, other aspect I think could think of is the tipping distribution /quality of an allo holder like how widely they tip and /or quality of the casts they tip could be factor in as a score.

I’m honestly waiting for the dust to settle to see where I can belong without it hurting me, initially wanted to put in my whole 25k from last season but as it looks I’m gonna have to double up that for a decent also this season so I’m looking at maybe 40-50k at least And I agree skin in the game is the way to go for me!
