I became more of a crypto person after I joined Farcaster about a year ago. I did earn a few K's since I joined and actually got funnelled in by the degen x basepaint collab.

Hi Dan. Meaningful for me is a recent family trip to Belgium using my coinbase card to buy stuff for family from crypto airdrops. I was made aware of the airdrops from Farcaster and eligible just from being part of this ecosystem. The really nice part was realizing how seamless the experience was and talking to the restaurant owners or bubble tea place in Antwerp about how the purchase was done in crypto through the coinbase card. Thanks Dan for asking about this as i consider myself more of a ongoing learner in this space and enjoy the community side of things. I'd say I've earned a meaningful amount by my standards. I am a stay at home mom who's always had a desire to create content and share my life. It's been about 4 years since I've brought home an income of any kind. I've made about $500 in 6 months and only 600 followers. I'm definitely not a crypto person but @chasesommer convinced me to join farcaster.

While it's not a lot of money in the crypto definition, where more savvy folks might be making 5+ figures, I've made a few thousand dollars since joining the web3 space as an artist in Jan '23 from art sales through CT in '23, degen tips from FC in '24, consulting for a Web3 firm I found through FC in '24, etc. So, most of that is linked to my presence on FC and is probably around the crossover point of 'meaningful' where it goes from hobby to side hustle. That said, I'm probably either net neutral or net negative, since I spent 3x more creating, minting and listing that art in '23, have yet to see whether how I deployed the degen tips in '24 will actually be profitable, and have lost half of the consulting income from trying to learn how to trade short-term up/down swings on crypto. Ultimately, I'm here as an artist, not a crypto person. Professionally, I'm a writer in research, corporate and financial contexts, not a crypto person. If any of these experiences are of interest, I'd be happy to chat.

When I first got my invite via Twitter dm I basically said I’d be your resident normie At peak degen (~$0.06/token), my monthly airdrop was about 1.2M degen. Was here early enough for a FC OG NFT. Managed to mint all 3 rounds with onchain Gaias. Managed to learn about Gaias hidden “pet trait” to trade up for them before their floor touched 1 ETH

The trend I’m observing is that every month I manage to double what I earned the previous one. Of course, it could be even more, but I will likely reach a plateau soon because I don’t have enough free time to invest here. However, for me, this trend is indicative of the opportunities that this idea and the platform behind it provide. I don't fully consider myself a crypto person yet. There’s still a lot to learn, but I’m gradually gaining momentum for many reasons—one of them being that blockchain knowledge is now considered a necessary technological skillset for professional growth across various fields.
