1/ If you're providing feedback on "spam", it's really helpful if you're precise. Is the cast: 1. Uninteresting — a "low effort reply", i.e. something that's boring or off-topic 2. Spammy — focused on getting something for free that you're not interested in, etc. 3. Malicious — phishing link, harassment

2/ Is the user: 1. Uninteresting — post low effort replies, boring casts, spammy casts 2. Bot — programmatic account not likely to be an actual human using a mobile device 3. Farming — a sophisticated account good at getting engagement but you don't find it interesting

would be cool to implement options like this on "report cast" button. I.e. i dont mind 2 more than 3, these are drives me mad af

Personally I've seen pretty much none of #3. Much better than Twitter! I see a ton of 1 and 2, almost all of it related to tokens and airdrops as far as I can tell.

How do we give that feedback? I flag casts now and again (mobile) and I haven’t seen a way to clarify why I’m flagging

What are your thoughts on accounts with "follow4follow" in the bio? Spam or not spam?

Do channel moderation actions (warn/hide) influence anything else about that user's posts outside the channel, or get fed into any other spam-filtering algorithms? If frequent enough it probably should cause that user's posts to be demoted in algorithmic feeds everywhere.

how would you categorize answers that appear authentic but are actually not authentic (eg AI-generated)? as "low effort" and #1?

Dan, I really don't think you'll solve the "Twitter Problem" (#1/#2). "Peer 2 Public" spam is solved via moderation & preference management. P2P (DMs) or P2Many (DM automation) is solvable. P2Public is not. How about adding an "I don't like this" option that hides similarly vibed casts?

#1 is not a problem that needs solving, adds complexity where it need not be 2 & 3 are solid

I rarely see #3, but it is the most important IMHO. Is there a way to createa short list of categories that we can report on when reporting a cast? I'm not worried about #1. #2 I see in some of the channels I'm in, but I expect it in some of them and think they will use their mods or automod to clean them up.

its potential 2 for me - folks reaching out for follows , degen tipping messages etc. Guess some sort of base NLP filtering ( not sure if already applied ) can give a poor signal score to such msgs.

Oh yeah, I’ve been providing what I refer to as “local feedback” for anything mobile app related (for apps I use that are on FC) It seems to be well received, as I haven’t gotten any constructive feedback on it so far. Anyway, /ryan is where I post it, if you’re curious… and I’m open to feedback!

I sometimes just cast an emoji as a reply to indicate a feeling or a vibe. I hope this will not be considered a “low effort” reply 😅

To negate negative brigading, There needs to be a way that a specific users interests (example “I don’t like this” action) doesn’t affect another users engagement or score but still detects spam accounts. Users who massively downvote content should also be impacted. Would a comm review like stackoverflow work?
