Since launching at the start of October, we've increased visibility of replies, added public mode as an option to allow non-members to cast and made it easier to invite people to channels from a cast. Have been spending a bunch of time last week and this week talking to channel owners and mods on what's working vs. not. If we haven't chatted, would love to hear your thoughts!

discovery still not great at all, huge issue for me — just post in ted or club ted mostly now would love if I could choose certain channels to show up in prio notifs instead of the separate notifs tab would be great if I could accept channel invite in the channel instead of in the notifs tab; onboarding still meh

Most honest feedback is it hasn't made me use channels more and think to navigate to them. I just post to home feed and my entire experience is through feed, replies and notifications. Something needs to really pull me into a channel to be active to it. Same way I earned DEGEN for being active in /degen early on

https://paulgraham.com/hackernews.html is a gem from 15 years ago on curating internet communities. channels on farcaster are still early, but directionally right. let's keep iterating. we're going to push the design surface for channels with cura and openrank

a tag of 'public' or 'members only' might be helpful. overall enjoying the upgrade and direction. channels mean more now, we just need content

casting almost everything no-channel since then. the fact that we need to check out how to become a member on some is still annoying, so it's either no-channel or no casting at all for me.

I was skeptical at first, onboarding into channels could improve and channel announcements are annoying, however overall it’s been better than I expected. It’s been good for the growth of /gameplay

Feeling good! Like - follower / member distinction - public mode opt-in - reply prioritization - chrono feed Wish that I could invite members from DCs or user profile pages - right now I have to leave DCs, open the channel, invite new member. Maybe consider adding "Invite to a channel" in kebab menu globally? Click kebab → invite to channel → choose channel to invite to

If i can be totally honest, this change made me less attracted to using FC. I find myself using it less as I cannot post my thoughts into channels - they feel gatekept. Why should I go back to posting to my main feed when i got so used to post relevant thoughts into relevant channels, which later on made it much easier UX - go to channel for specific content based on my interest. The new notifications where people post into channels seems unnecessary too? Maybe it's just me being overwhelmed by social media content consumptions? Some extra food for thought: This is definitely not something that FC team can affect, but I've heard multiple people complaining about the content on FC being just a few people in a room talking to each other. People are unsure what content to share here - it can be harder to navigate for new user how to grasp FC as it feels like a mix of reddit - not really advices but general discussions, twitter - but not really CT, lots of pic which gives it a feeling of flickr?

I don't love that I have to be a member of anything I think fits a subject I want to post about in a channel. I don't know how to screen bots better tho, either so 🤷‍♂️

Fine now. Seem to be able to post in most channels when targeting a topic. Otherwise I just post to home. Feed feels the same. Planning to try an experiment to push a bunch of new users to a particular channel membership at some point.

Still having trouble rewiring the "post in channels for distribution." If I post in channels it's my audience + channel audience, vs just posting is only my audience (so still better for distribution? But now maybe I'm degrading channel quality (thank god for /six where I don't really have to think about this). Or if posting in channels is only audience of channel, like is it narrowcasting? I feel like I already know it's not narrowcasting, but still having to mentally adjust. Will prob take another month or two at least.
