their streak repair feature was awesome...got me to restart my activity. What's fascinating is also their DAU model, breaking it in cohorts such as new, churn, last week active etc. one of the best in business.

It's interesting because this is what totally turned me off of Duolingo. I would still use it if I could just turn all that shit off. Same for Warpcast: I know it's not your main moneymaker but give me a chronological feed of who I follow. Hide it deep in the settings, make me work for it, make me pay for it. Give me an option out of this addictive, soul-sucking, attention economy.

yeah I missed "learning" as an obvious app use case... streaks are being used well by the Axie Infinity team at the moment to provide whitelist/discounted mints etc to players in the Ronin ecosystem. can verify duolingo as I hear the chime of my wife learning korean in the other room at the moment.

One thing that I really like & what differentiates Duo’s streaks is that they have β€œstreak freezes” that allows you to maintain your streak even if you missed a day. Without it, it would be very hard to incentivise someone to start back from 0 if they broke their long streak for some reason.

Degen has done that for me here. I basically took a week off farcaster and only logged in to distribute my daily tips. I missed one day because of no cell service for a few days.
