How are people feeling about announcements? 1. When they first launched, a bunch of complaints about them being too spammy. 2. Another population of people claim they never check the channels tab. If we were to move announcements into the All / Priority tab (vs. keeping them in Channels), how would you feel?

I’m in the spammy camp. Worst feature of channel update imo. I’ve left any channel that sends multiple announcements in a day. They should be in their own tab. If not their own tab, then you should be able to mute them.

This is the first time i’ve seen them mostly because I was just clicking around the app for fun and stumbled on this post

1. I don’t think the announcements feature is inherently spammy, it’s the frequency that can make it feel that way. If a channel does it too often, I just unfollow it. So far, this hasn’t been a big issue for me. 2. I click on the channels tab, and I like the fact that channel-related notifications have their own dedicated section. I wouldn’t mind testing how it feels to move them to the all/priority tab

Can we opt in to announcements separately from following a channel? I follow many channels but maybe only want announcements from some. When I get too many, I ignore them all.

Hate em. I care more about post notification in the channels I host than any announcement I've seen. From observation announcements are used very liberally to where they have no meaning any more. Just feels like a no risk high reward play for casts that otherwise should just be subject to the draw of the algo. Announcements have been so noisy I reluctantly check the channel tab because it's rarely what I want to see any more and just tons of casts I feel are being shoved down my throat. I considered unfollowing all the channels abusing (in my loose definition) announcements but just grew tired of the process after 2 channels. Didn't help that the announcements still lingered in my notifications!

I did notice that when I made announcements in /stokefire, those casts got more engagement then if I didn't. So seemed to be helpful and give more eyeballs.

I don’t check channel notifications. I value non channel notifications more and don’t want miss them. Channel notifications have a chance of overloading the notification feed. I would keep them separate but include the count in the notification badge.

Have never checked it. Probably misclicked into that tab once, or twice.

I like them but also prefer they are in channels tab — priority tab is already busy.

I’d like the following: 1) channel invites always at the top 2) the ability to mute channel announcements by channel

I check channels tab when I see a notification, because seeing someone posted in one of my channels is useful. When that notification turns out to be an announcement, I generally ignore it and more often than not it feels like something I would not have chosen to get a notification for, if it was up to me, probably >90% of the time actually. One alternative slightly different from what you suggest in og cast could be to move the notifications about someone posting in a channel you own/mod to the priority tab and keeping announcements where they are now in the channels notifications tab. Then I would see pretty much everything I want to see in priority (including when someone casts in one of my channels), I would stop checking channels notifications (announcements), and occasionally I’d check mentions to see if I missed any quality casts I want to respond to.

Love announcements. And I love them being in the channels tab. Would be even better in their own tab.

Own tab. If you move them into all / priority then please provide a way to turn off / opt out.

I’d prefer to keep the status quo. I don’t care enough about announcements that I’d want to see them in my priority feed. I want to be able to see notifications relevant to me (likes, replies, recasts of my posts) and not have to sift through other stuff.

Never “used” them - never reacted on it, nor pushed them in moderated channels

I like announcements. I think keeping them in a separate tab is good, so people who don't like them can ignore them.

Please keep them on their own tab. Better yet, remove them from notifications and add an Announcements tab in the channels UI. It’s already overwhelming to have many announcements across multiple channels… now imagine Warpcast hitting critical mass; the amount of spammy announcements would feel like hundreds of people all shouting for attention.
