The single most useful thing anyone can do to help Farcaster is invite 1 person and be their Farcaster sherpa for the first month. 1. Onboard them 2. Start a direct cast with them (make sure they keep notifications on) 3. Start sending them interesting people and casts 4. Answer their questions 5. Encourage them to cast in channels they might have top 10% (or 1% knowledge on)

I’ve already been doing this and it helps. Tag them in casts that you think would be of interest, throw them into juicy arguments, helps alot

Farcaster could perhaps unlock growth by making it easier to create and manage multiple accounts Guessing people use different social apps for different things, so getting existing members to do both LinkedIn-things and Instagram-things on different FC accounts might open up their follow graphs from both apps

Most of the ppl I know are normies - I gave up on actively introducing them to Web3 until the computer is clearly more powerful than the casino I don’t mind onboarding someone if they’re already interested (which rarely ever happens) but I’m not an evangelist - I don’t like telling ppl what to do and what is better for them - they need to dtor Feel free to tell me I’m part of the problem (maybe) but I don’t wanna put ppl and my own rep on the line bc the current Web3 is unstable to say the least

I came here in February, didn't have anyone to help onboard... Left for a bit came back in April and met @podom.eth & @kevinmfer who did onboard me... Haven't missed a single day since... I'd add joining a group community like /success by @maretus.eth or /anime-manga by @pichi as well...

Agreed. Solid plan. These steps are basically what I did wheI got a few Twitter only guys to come over and stick out the initial learning curve and they seem to be enjoying it. @underdog + @goyabean-

Is there a way to sort channels based on how active the channel is as opposed to just seeing how many followers it has? A small active channel on a topic that appeals to you or where you have expertise would be a great place for a new comer to start casting in order to see some engagement & build confidence in how the platform works

I’m planning to do this and bring some of my artist friends here. Twitter is brutal for small artists but here people are super friendly.

Oh, and a random personal side note: I personally am not comfortable having people I know well irl here because I won’t be able to be unapologetically myself anymore. Maybe some internet friends from Web2 projects, idk For some of us it’s a real struggle

That was effective when social media first emerged. The benefits for the Sherpa and the invited person were immediate. The challenge for Farcaster is to convince people to change their habits without changing the value proposition. Something extra is needed. Ownership of the network? A financial incentive? Incredible features?

Done that for countless artists. It helped keep some here but many gave up because they were invisible.
