The irony is proof of human is way less valuable in web3 vs. web2. In web2, you monetize via ads. At least right now, AIs (i.e. bots) aren't influenced by ads. In web3, you monetize via transactions. AIs can do transactions. And as a developer, if you're monetizing via transactions, in most cases you don't care if the transaction is from a human or from an AI. You just care that it happened.

one consistent thing I heard this past week: proof of human is critical if you want to drop a network token to incentivize network growth and *quality* engagement and contributions

Why would proof of human reduce bot transactions?

i was just talking to a friend of mine: “soon AIs may outspend humans in transaction volume.”

Yet you need some proof of GOOD human when establishing a work team in Web3 to avoid bad actors. Man, would you take a second to expand the idea that ZK could tackle this trust component of human relationships in Web3? 🤔 Like I’m 7 😬

This is true for web2 businesses that sell tradeable things. In my old primary ticketing company, some venues were upset when we improved our bot protection because their sales were dropping.

Finance apps - we don't care who. Any other type of consumer app - we do care, and a lot, that whoever uses my app is not a bot.

this is partially because most web3 protocols were designed pre proof of human, so needed to be inherently sybil resistant design space changes if that data becomes available/reliable

ofc you do care. have you ever looked at a chart? bots (plz don’t call them “AI”), are not helping you monetize, they are merely obfuscating activity by extraction.

In the not-so-distant future, all transactions will be from AIs. All social media posts (and tips) will be from AIs. Often on behalf of humans, of course, but when your AI knows you better than you know yourself, and can express yourself better than you can, it will just make sense to let the AIs write the content and send the transactions. Humans doing it themselves will be deemed very old-fashioned.
