I hate when people refer to this as “price gouging”. Markets generally work to protect supply and artificially preventing markets from working discourages investment and usually ends up leading to stagnation.

Its almost possible for the executive branch to drive down inflation. One path to potentially reduce the living costs of middle income renters is an executive order, which could potentially counter the recent trend of funds buying homes and in some cases entire neighborhoods driving up the cost of housing. This would also improve the CPI which is heavily determined by housing, the most sticky of inflation's measures.

steel man is that building and housing is incredibly regulated n bureaucratic so supply is fixed but demand is not leading to higher prices. so if supply is fixed by govt, demand needs to be too. also can argue that housing isnt a normal good, but more welfare, so it can be taken care of like healthcare, publicly...

I like Kamala, but her tweet just seems unrealistic. I hate that minority rights and human rights are often tied to the idea of a large centralized government controlling everything. As a minority, I support the free market and capitalism based on humanist principles (not religious fanaticism), and I just can’t seem to find my place on either the traditional right/left.
