steel man is that building and housing is incredibly regulated n bureaucratic so supply is fixed but demand is not leading to higher prices. so if supply is fixed by govt, demand needs to be too. also can argue that housing isnt a normal good, but more welfare, so it can be taken care of like healthcare, publicly...
