If you do the majority of your messaging on WhatsApp, do you have a lot of people using the Status tab?

Very popular in Nigeria. Almost a primary social network of sorts.

it is used in India a lot. WhatsApp in India has features like payments which I don’t have in Europe

I have 300ish contacts on WhatsApp. The Status tab averages 1 post per day. Usually the same set of people.

Only African contacts. My brother exports cars there and advertises them via WhatsApp status. I've helped African startups run user acquisition through it.

My primary messaging platform (defacto standard for messaging in South Africa), but few people use Status.

I always got the sense it was used most with my South and Central American group/friends. Not heavily. I have never used it.

The only people who use it in my contacts are airport transfer / security drivers whose numbers i have saved as backups when travelling in developing countries. These guys often have three devices on their dash, and on all day. Very strong communities within their industry — not stop streaming (text and voice) chats.

Also just checked it. Do I need to do anything to see network status updates? Absolutely nothing there.

Not the majority, but a fair chunk between Indian relatives + group chats where 1 person doesn’t have iMessage. And nope, usually 1-2 people w/ a status.

Often my aunt accidentally posts messages there, other than that it’s generally empty. but I think in certain cultures/countries it’s more commonly used.

Mostly a small subsection of my Indian circle of people based of small cities. I have seen very interesting usecases though, mostly by small businesses using it to market their offerings and houseowner admins (in a society) using it to announce thing otherwise getting lost in a crowded group.
