Longevity guys read the Myth of Sisyphus when they were kids and were like “that’s what I want to do for eternity “

I’d like to think that cheaper AI models that can be trained by individuals will lead to a shift in writing that was similar to shift in music production when MIDI standard was introduced in the 80s. Probably wishful because a lot of my favorite sounds are from that era when bands like Kraftwerk and New Order were making their own synthesizers, but I think there is something there

I want to wear a bolo tie to a wedding but it can’t one of the traditional ones (too much cosplay) and the only sleek modern one I could find was this $700 one from Lemaire. Considering making one. Paging @keccers.eth

Sometimes I wonder if there are monks who regret being enlightened and yearn to go back to experiencing the world through filters and stereotypes instead of being stuck in the present (sounds exhausting)

There is a line from the book Masters of Doom that I often think about, which goes something like “John Romero lived in the future while John Carmack lived in all moments - present, past and future”

In 2012, when I was dumb and broke in college, I made 20 minute short film about a guy who only gets texts from people who don't exist, lost the film and don't think I uploaded it to youtube. It was probably terrible but directionally accurate.

reading a paper on how Genoa invented maritime insurance and it kind of sounds like trading meme coins - people invested in them as collective, big bag holders came first, insider knowledge on the risk involved was necessary, there were no institutions investing - everything except for the part where they were investing in something that insured an actual expedition that went out and took actual risks

Good run down of improvements and deficiencies since the last big winter storm - which I survived thanks to Costco, camping stove, dried food and giant purple puffer jacket https://www.douglewin.com/p/texas-grid-reliability-winter-storm

Texas grid has not been able to handle consecutive days of below freezing temperatures for a while now. Even last week's mild cold front was causing voltage fluctuations wonder what would happen if there is a 100 year cold front event like the one described below
