i don't think you necessarily need the funniest or smartest people on farcaster for people to want to spend their time here when you get to know someone, even their more menial content becomes interesting to you the people who's content i enjoy the most on farcaster aren't famous or necessarily exceptional in their fields or even post about a certain topic. they're just normal people (often like-minded peopel) who i have gotten to know over time and now feel emotionally invested in i don't think it's necessarily trivial to reproduce this outcome, but i think it's definitely worth exploring

after watching the video it seems to me that the approach to solving the growth problem is very web2 oriented (e.g. compete with twitter by offering better content) why not focus more on the edge of crypto? onchain social is the only space where the economic layer is deeply intertwined with the social layer

Really appreciate you doing this. For the next one, I’m curious if you think being heavily crypto-aligned is a net negative or positive for widespread user growth at this stage.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet 10 key points for readers 1. Video content poses significant compliance and moderation challenges for small teams, especially regarding illegal content and copyright issues. This is why Warpcast has been cautious about rolling out video features to all users. 2. Blocks and mutes were implemented to control the quality of conversations and prevent negative/troll behavior from ruining the experience for users who post interesting content. 3. Frames was an experiment that unexpectedly gained traction. Most product launches fail or have incremental impact, so finding something that drives significant growth is rare. 4. The team is hesitant about directly funding teams building on Farcaster, as it may create adverse selection issues. They prefer retroactive grants for projects that show organic traction. 5. Cross-posting content from other platforms (like Twitter) to Farcaster hasn't been well-received, as users prefer original content created specifically for the platform.

Just throwing random thoughts: Maybe a way to attract high quality content is to make it more useful or more valuable on Farcaster (or at least Warpcast). For example, if there is a type of content creator that's easy to ask them to try Farcaster is NFT artists: "Minting is really easy, you will get more mints". Making tipping more prominent and visible may be an interesting experiment. Or a patreon-like or hypersub-like subscription/integration (not sure how/what)? This direction might also make easier onboarding new users: subscribe to my channel/whatever on Farcaster for $5/month, if you don't have an account the first $3 are used to pay for a storage unit, signer, etc.
