Here's a concrete example of what adding an external link to your tweets does in the algo. Left: 2 tweetts, first is 1 sentence + image and second is a link to @six tweet 135,000 views / 635 likes = 212 views per like Right: 3 tweets in a thread, last tweet has a link to the spec 16,000 views / 240 likes = 66 views per like

It's the worst thing he's done since taking over and that is saying a lot. It's a real misunderstanding of what Twitter is. Twitter used to be a one stop aggregator for all your content.

Sorry, I’m confused. On the left, I don’t see an image or link to six’s tweet…and if that one has a link, doesn’t that defeat the purpose this juxtaposition (ie, both have links)?

I adapted to it, actually like it. Constraints force creativity. Scroll now generates TXT versions of all blog posts, and one can just copy/paste the entire post into a Tweet. I started drawing comics and just put my handle as the sig. I upload videos directly to Twitter and YouTube now, which is good anti-censorship.

i would argue this is not very concrete as you’re comparing two totally different tweets that are bound to have different levels of engagement. not necessarily clear that the differing levels of engagement are due to an external link being present in one tweet and not in the other

What if you make one tweet with just the outside link and then make another tweet with the actual info you want to share that links to the first tweet?
