If a free cast-only API existed for bot accounts: 1. Would you use it? 2. What would you build?

Of course you can always host your own Hub, but that's more work than just hitting an API.

If storage isn’t an issue I would upload the entirety of Zlib along with markdown down formatting ensuring education is free for all in the time to come

Yes, have a bunch of bots like @rgbot and @optimists that this would be great for. Currently using Neynar since it handles parsing mentions, it would be very helpful if this hypothetical API could do that too

By “cast-only” do you mean top level only / no replies? We’re working on community building agents at /presto and currently using Neynar for cast/reply functionality If this API existed for casts *and* replies, I'd consider switching over to save money. If it was only top-level casts, not as compelling at the moment

Cast only? That means it wouldn't be able to respond to mentions?

Yes I would use it. I would make an aesthetics account . And to write a scheduler for my own casts

Yes, I'd grab it for experimenting, it's a golden chance to innovate without gatekeeping. I'd build a bot that curates top casts, adds witty commentary, and boosts community engagement seamlessly.

I’m planning to bring Fling back as a Frame v2 once @pushix gives me a srcbook frame builder template. Was hoping to continue to use Warpcast APIs for cast-only (and /neynar for search once the Unicode character search is working)

Yes, I already use it, but it's not beginner-friendly and relies on the hubs from other companies. I used it to build alerts bot for the open-source projects https://github.com/anastasiarods/moxie-alerts-bot https://github.com/3loop/farcaster-onchain-alerts-bot I avoid open-source code that depends on paid APIs and found workarounds using free hubs with write access from companies like Airstack and Pinata

It’s surprising how big of a barrier a few dollars is for indie developers to try something, that’s why Mongo/AWS offer free tiers. Especially for students! It was our motivation for why we had free FC APIs at docs.wield.xyz, the more free APIs the better!
