Woah. I’m somewhere in the middle here. Even though not at all super optimizer, I do think Bryan has brought on many more people towards even just starting to think about optimizing their daily lives. But Nassim has a point.

I do feel that just because we can now easily measure more biomarkers, we're becoming more prone to optimizing said biomarkers But perhaps the key to a good life is a lot simpler that all of this https://warpcast.com/vinayvasanji.eth/0xa509f1d8

Ooof that’s a painful rebuff. It’s not the whole Don’t Die movement that’s relevant to Skin in the Game, only @bryanjohnson’s self-experimentation to gather data. It doesn’t get much more “skin in the game” than subjecting yourself to various protocols just to clear the path for others. Taleb is also being his usual curmudgeon self here. The point of Don’t Die (as I understand it) isn’t individual immortality — despite the catchy name. Bryan and others are still aging, just slower. The point is to achieve a longer and healthier life span. I don’t think even radical experimentation in longevity deserves such contempt. If anything, it’s trying to make our bodies closer to being antifragile — being able to withstand and perhaps even benefit from the randomness of our daily lives. That concept should resonate with Taleb.

I’m keeping “neurotic overoptimization” close at hand from now on. I intend to use it both fairly and as a bald insult against anyone who outperforms me

Is not it funny human lived over hundred years living in wild and working hard , walking on foot, many other factors contributing to longevity. Water drinking Walking steps Sleep Manual labor On and on many factors. Now we have vaccine to food to better living standards. Delaying death we call longevity now. If few human spent 100 million to delay death , does it really create good data bank for people ?
