Anyone here ever taken Spirit Airlines? I certainly did my fair bit of Ryanair as a college student abroad. The problem with the latter is that it flies in and out of the most obscure airports outside major cities, making you pay in time and money for extra travel.

yeah i've taken spirit a few times, i'm always more nervous about cancellations than anything but for short low-stakes route (no connections) / weekend trips it's great. the flight attendants are usually super fun and relaxed, it's definitely a different experience. my parents hate it though

Not taken Spirit but I have all the praise in the world for RyanAir. Always on-time, cheap af, and Madrid was one of the few places where they didn't drop you off in the middle of nowhere. Yellow interiors of the planes were jarring tho

I took it home from Vegas once years ago and they canceled the flight and left my brother and I stranded in the airport for like 6 extra hours.

Took them to Florida a couple years ago for first time, I got to gate and they texted everyone that the gate changed. Went to new gate and again they texted to say it changed back. Weird. Finally got to board and literally when the doors closed they texted again saying the flight gate changed. Flight attendants just shrugged and said that happens a lot. Flight itself was dull. Paid for the big front seat. Not too shabby given the cost was 1/3 of United and Southwest. Welcome to Spirit.

Spirit now has 3 levels and the Big Comfy is like 1990’s first class seats, 2 to a row. Nicer than Delta Comfort+ but not better than 1st. Fine for long trips. Spirit otherwise is fine for quick trips, seats are tight but the design is such that you still have legroom cause they put the pouch up top and forgo the tray. Delays can sometimes be a problem but don’t find them more frequent than other airlines personally.
