for whatever reason, this TIME cover from 2013 is making its rounds again on X with great controversy. 10+ years on and people still can’t seem to wrap their heads around: 1) womanhood not having to be equated to motherhood 2) women being capable of deciding what’s best for themselves 🤷♀️

These conversations are so funny cus what it boils down to is this.. kids require A LOT ..So being childfree is actually freedom.. and freedom breeds envy because how dare a woman be independent + living her best life Only ppl that have a problem with it are the ones who regret having children but don’t want to admit it.

Great points. I wasn't planning on becoming a parent and while I love and adore my kids, I will make a great effort to make sure they do not feel pressured to have children. Especially my daughter. Hopefully by the time she's old enough (she's 7 now) this will not be such a big deal.

I've advised the following to a person who I know of Twitter from my remote work bubble time (he and his partner are successful. Both engineers from India) 1. More important than the question of having kids or not, is with whom you are having it. Better alone than with someone with whom you can't talk 2. Loneliness kills. Make sure you have family or friends around.

topic is very sensitive but I'm glad more and more ppl are getting completely ok with childfree life. older generation will hardly accept it but 20-40s years old are getting much more supportive.
