what a sad story. my reactions: - academia, not even once - poly, not even once. (no judgement, i just personally don't want the kind of turmoil it tends to create) - we could use a more rational, principled pool of grant money to fund people like this https://www.thefp.com/p/he-was-a-world-renowned-cancer-researcher

I’m really getting spooked by this kind of “retconning” of relationships into something far more insidious than was communicated or understood by consenting adults *at the time*. The burden of proof should be contemporaneous evidence, not a loose interpretation of dynamics in retrospect.

Fear is the mind-killer How do we live in such a safe and abundant world, yet ppl are so scared (in this case, of taking a week or three to sort things out before turning on the poor guy)

this is completely fucked. this woman destroyed a man’s life, robbed society of a leader and spit so much poison into the well of societal freedom. enabled by institutions along the way.

This just got more and more absurd. Especially the part when protesters called for him to go to prison! As a cancer survivor, this is deeply saddening/maddening.

This was a really interesting read, thanks for sharing. Incredible (albeit not surprising) how much power those that hold the grant money purse strings wield.
