Solana is now quantum-resistant, Solana dev claims
Solana developers have introduced the Winternitz Vault, a quantum-resistant security feature on the Solana blockchain, to guard against potential quantum computer threats. It uses a hash-based signature system, creating new private keys for each transaction to enhance security. Available as an optional feature, users must opt for Winternitz vaults instead of standard wallets for protection. The vault process involves generating a keypair, computing a Merkle root, and managing a split account for transactions. Cryptography researcher Dean Little highlighted the development, which addresses investor concerns about quantum risks. Meanwhile, Ethereum plans similar safeguards, but Vitalik Buterin believes significant threats are at least a decade away. 3 replies
