Introvert/writer problems: On days when I have calls booked, it's always a crapshoot whether my brain will be able to shift back into "writing mode" after the call ends so I can get deep work done. Today's answer: nope. Nice try. Best I can do is this cast. Aspirational Zillow browsing it shall be, then. π

The Zillow browsing led me to a house I fancy: a small one-story in NE Portland with a detached garage, a basement, and a private fenced backyard with a mature Douglas Fir tree. Located right down the street from a good friend of mine, too. Not in a position to pursue it, but I can dream.

I have the same problem. Which is why I try to move all my calls to the same days and leave writing-only days. Barring that, I block off the morning and write before the calls begin.

Introvert here. Context switching is something I constantly struggle with. I often have to gently remind my wife to give me time to shift attention from a focused task (often reading or writing) before she gets deep into a comment or question. Otherwise, I simply miss the first 30 seconds or so of what she says.

Yep; Iβm with you. And it only takes one meeting to be booked in for it to cast enough of a shadow as to sap the vitality from the rest of the day. Iβm trying to batch but life doesnβt always coordinate with my plans.
