Cast iron skillets of any reputable brand are great and should last a lifetime! And for a lot of people, the added iron is a health benefit!

Highly recommend All-Clad d5, d7 or copper core or similar in Wolf Gourmet. Bar Keepers Friend powder or liquid to clean them when they get super greasy after cooking. Even tough grease just wipes off in seconds.

- Stainless steel pan(s) - A good chef's knife and a paring knife to go with it. Those are my essentials in the kitchen, good knives make a huge difference.

In 2000 we bought a $120 set of Revere Ware stainless-steel cookware. We are still using it today. Nothing fancy, cheap set from a store that is no longer in business. That said, I like my Calphalon better as it is more heavy duty.
