feeling quite sicky but so far it's not the Rona so achey and feverish no fun it's tricky getting used to medicines available in Japan vs the US, they are much more strict here and don't have the things I am used to taking when I am sick 😷🥵🤒

after drinking til the sun came up to celebrate typhoon Shanshan the past two nights... our gottdamned hotel has woken us up at 10am knocking on the door to ask us to check out both mornings unnecessarily we rented the room for two days plus late checkout they are so fired this is dumb i am sleepy and still tipsy

tonight was 4 hours of all you can drink typhoonaraoke til 5am with a tasty cheap snack afterwards this pork cutlet with curry and miso was the ballast that kept me ship afloat on a sea of boozes

OK OK OK hear me out... once you're evacuated from the typhoon and flooding, it's time for TYPHOONARAKOE (!!!) love these karaoke booths in Japan they even have a decent selection of English songs in addition to all the Japanese hits i got to sing some Prince, Bell Biv Devoe, Ariana Grande, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, W.A.P., and so much MOAR typhoonarakoe rules

on a train on our way to higher ground, emergency Evacuation notice just came through for flooding due to the typhoon most folks around us seem to be going about their business as usual so hopefully it's just a precaution and our home will be ok, but better safe than sorry and we only live a few meters above sea level and right between two rivers that are flooding in a known flood zone lol

crazy typhoon rains have us cooking up a storm at home right meow this hella thicc pork steak was super tasty, and tasted really fresh for being 半額 (hangaku, a half price end of day special) Japan's rigorous meat standards & super short expiration dates mean hangaku meat is a safe & tasty bargain (!!!) especially compared to the US where expiration dates are more guidelines than rules... i would think twice before doing this in the US with half off meat without cooking it to death 😂 and i always make sure the meat is just the right safe internal temperature with a meat thermometer

one of the few things i miss living in Japan after moving from the US is delicious, cheap slices of pizza available all hours of the day all over the city i used to live in (also i hella miss Mexican food, having lived in Mexico in the past i miss it more than i miss my friends 😂😢😭) all of the pizza near my house is quite expensive, but I did find an amazing world class pizzeria in Tokyo that's only 500 yen per pizza and they're just delicious and baked in a wood fire oven... i need to go there again next time i'm in the city i will still take Japan over the US any day of the week though, and making pizza toast at home in my little fish grill in our stove has been helping fulfill these cravings a lot

i absolutely love the "mega" sized drink option at the izakaya closest to our house it goes from a small, demure drink to this massive stein of amazing yuzu hazimjtsu spur, my hubby's adorbs hand for size reference
