Hot take but I think "utility NFTs" are somewhat dead. Minting something is a social signal that you like it - and I don't think it's feasible for mints to come with extra perks at scale. You don't get utility for holding a lot of a token - why should for holding an NFT?

utility NFTs will only exist as an enabling technology, like those that you mint with hypersub

1155's are best of all worlds. fungible but non-fungilble.... so semi fungible. might be 1:1 in pure utility but 100:1 to value to me, but only 10:1 value for you. value, and utility, are subjective.... or semi-fungible. signal and utility: https://zora.co/collect/base:0x1f98380fb1b3ae8cd097d5f9d49a7e79cd69a4fb

Everyone in this venue holds an NFT Ticket for this concert. They have 0 blockchain or NFT knowledge, it is all in the background. 0 tickets scalped and 0 people scammed. That is utility if you ask me

You get staking rewards for holding and staking a token. Normies would disagree here but it’s to much of a novelty atm.

Plenty of attractive NFT / token holding utilities. The Based LP is a great example… and one of the biggest projects on Warpcast. Basically your neighbour, man. IMO, this “take” only suggests a narrow perspective and is as about as hot as 💩 Would have been nice to see you seeking examples. 🤷‍♂️

Agreed. Can utility be physical for example? Like an album etc.

Teachers don't get paid liveable wages why should McDonald's workers? Why compare two things against each other when they both can be approved upon? 🤔 Holding a lot of a token should be able to give you more utility. Not that NFTs shouldn't be trying to give utility

Totally agree, So why not ask creators of utility projects to collaborate with artists, combining art and utility?

i think the term "utility" has been skewed in the past years. 84 years ago in 2019-20, utility NFTs in my world were used to unlock in-game assets like all your gear and vehicles, skins, etc. i think you're showing with the AA pass what true utility is. bringing it back.

I see this happening as it‘s easier. But I also think the personal relationship bw artist & fan/collector is among most underdeveloped areas & could be the real value add to a) create even bigger bonds b) improve future sales

There are many different types of NFTs though, music for example doesn’t fall into the collectors type. Utility is a way to go beyond the original idea of an NFT

I love you but my god I have the exact opposite view. Tokens are data first. The more data gets used the more value accrues. Useless data is worth less. We’ve been minting data with virtually no apps to use that data. That’s backwards. We should be creating the apps first which store the data as NFTs & use them.

I don't think they're necessarily dead, it's just that people on Farcaster are perfectly willing to mint NFTs without utility Get out of the Farcaster bubble, and buying something just because you like it is much less common

Minting nfts for supporting the creator without expectations, the artist in another side to find some way to reward the truly supporters without promising nothing in advance is the way.
