What do people think about 404s? TLDR - hold a certain amount of fungible tokens to unlock an NFT. Sell below the threshold and the NFT is burned. Do we like 404s or what's our general sentiment on them? Rain 5000 $DEGEN

we like dn404s specifically the dn404 spec makes 404s much more compatible with existing protocols / infra https://github.com/Vectorized/dn404

not a fan. i do not see where they can useful. their fungible properties are not better than erc20s. their non fungible properties are not better than erc721s.

i still think 404s have legs but we need the space to get like 30% more serious first before we can even know if the degen market would be into it. it's too early. it's like earlier than early, which is probably too early.

it's a new decentralized distribution method, I love the creativity and I guess it's easier for people to get more expensive NFTs by saving up their tokens over time?

it is still confusing to like it or not, you may got both answers. Also may depend on each one how he deal with his assets or NFTs or trades

I think the gachapon/loot crate/re-roll mechanics have a lot of potential, esp in gaming/gamifying projects...very underexplored right now. I need to learn more, but if it is compatible with big 20 & 721 platforms as is, seems like it could be BIG. NFTs ^ Memecoins = ✨

As a dev who just learned what this is right now, is it possible to name it something else?

I don't like them, i think it adds a complexity that is not needed. I recently minted blastin pepes on Blast, a 404, no reveal yet but everytime if you move, or sell/buy the tokens you end up with a different NFT... pretty odd for a 10k collection.

Fun concept but I don't see any justifiable uses. The NFT component is -EV by creating additional dependencies. In every case I can think of, I'd prefer to just implement a swap contract that establishes some exchange rate between the token and NFT.

This mechanism can maintain scarcity and increase the value of the remaining NFTs, providing a deflationary effect in the NFT market.

Quite an interesting approach in maintaining a good price of the token honestly. But at what point it becomes too punishing for those who holds the NFT? 1 $DEGEN for sparking the discussion!
